Report: Newcastle could break the transfer record to finally sign ‘very gifted’ star who rejected them

Newcastle United has demonstrated a willingness to wait for their targets.

Newcastle United’s team has been formed in such a logical manner under PIF’s ownership that they have rarely made mistakes in the transfer market.

Newcastle United has one of the most valuable squads in world football for a reason. They have some good players, many of whom have progressed at St James’ Park.

After all, Eddie Howe conceded that signing Alexander Isak for £63 million was a gamble, but it has proven to be a masterstroke.

When the club decides on a player, it appears that they are willing to wait until an opportunity to sign them emerges. Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon were eventually signed following the window in which links and reports of Newcastle’s interest surfaced.

Now, all of this gets us to Hugo Ekitike.

Newcastle might reignite Hugo Ekitike’s interest in a record-breaking move.

Ekitike rejected Newcastle in 2022, prior to the acquisition of Isak.

Clearly, that has paid off for Newcastle. Isak has been dubbed a “world class” player, and rightfully so given his performance on Tyneside.

Ekitike finally moved from Reims to Paris Saint-Germain, where he struggled at first. However, a move to Eintracht Frankfurt has paid off for the 22-year-old, who has 18 goals in 35 games this season.

According to Christian Falk’s Daily Briefing, Newcastle are serious about resuming their interest in Ekitike, especially if Isak leaves this summer.

According to reports, Frankfurt would seek €80 million for the Frenchman, which is approximately £67.1 million more than the sum paid for Isak.

Eddie Howe has already provided excellent assessments of Hugo Ekitike.

Howe, who scouted Ekitike few years ago, has described him as “very talented”.

Though the thought of moving Isak and then replacing him with a player who has already turned down Newcastle would be unpopular, few can deny his performances this season.

Struggling at PSG is understandable. Ekitike was pushing for a starting spot alongside Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe at the moment. This is a nearly hard assignment for a rookie player.

In an ideal world, Newcastle would be able to keep Isak while signing a player as talented as Ekitike. If the unfortunate day comes when Isak must depart, the Frenchman may not be the worst option for finding a replacement.

If he performs well on the pitch, everything else will fade away.
