Manchester United are now linked with a Leeds United player who knows new Old Trafford sensation Joshua Zirkzee well, as the summer fire sale at Elland Road appears to continue.

Erik ten Hag was able to keep his job as Manchester United manager this summer, and he replied by signing a fellow countryman in the form of Zirkzee, who played in Serie A with Bologna the previous season.

Back in the summer of 2022, Dutch site Voetbal24 reported that Leeds were interested in signing Zirkzee from Bayern Munich. A footballer who came on as a substitute against England during Euro 2024 in Germany.

Leeds had already done business with Bayern this summer, through Marc Roca. Instead, Zirkzee moved to Bologna and, despite a difficult start in Italy, impressed last season under new Juve manager Thiago Motta.

Manchester United want Leeds star, but he might cost £40 million.

Zirkzee has moved on to Manchester United, but ten Hag’s journey is far from over. After signing Leny Yoro for more over £50 million, they’ve shifted their focus to Elland Road, namely Crysencio Summerville.

According to Leeds Live, Manchester United are among Summerville’s suitors, despite not previously being linked with the pocket-sized Dutchman. Summerville is thought to be ‘weighing his options’ and is valued at £40 million.

Newcastle, Palace, and Aston Villa are interested, as is Glen Kamara’s new club Rennes in Summerville. The winger is currently in Germany with Leeds ahead of the 2024-25 season but is expected to leave.

Zirkzee and Crysencio Summerville know each other well.

While the duo excelled at Feyenoord, they only played together once at club level, in a 1-0 victory for Feyenoord’s U19 team over PSV in 2016-17. The duo’s strongest bond was for their country.

Indeed, Zirkzee and Summerville played together 16 times for the Netherlands’ young teams, from U16 to U21 level. Summerville is expected to catch up with Zirkzee and win senior caps.

A return to the Premier League would undoubtedly help Summerville do so, but he could expect a fierce response from Leeds supporters if he chooses to join ten Hag and Zirkzee at Manchester United.
