Liverpool are likely to be busy during the summer transfer window, as the Reds’ administration and FSG seek to usher in a new era at Anfield.
With Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool at the end of the season and Arne Slot taking over, there is a lot of work to be done to ensure continuity at Anfield.
Many elite players have been linked with a summer move to Anfield, including one whom Slot knows well from their time together in Dutch football.
The player in issue is Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners, and talk linking him to Liverpool has grown in recent weeks.
A report from Italy claims that the Reds are in pole position to sign the 26-year-old.
According to Tuttojuve, Juventus will struggle to meet Atalanta’s asking price for Koopmeiners.
According to the report, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side would not offer any discounts, so any suitors must be willing to commit €60 million (£51 million).
With that in mind, Juve may abandon their pursuit of Koopmeiners, allowing him to depart Serie A and join Liverpool.
Tuttojuve believe the Reds are the ‘perfect destination’ for the player, presumably because their wealth would allow them to meet La Dea’s demands.
Who is Liverpool’s aim, Teun Koopmeiners?
Although Liverpool considerably improved their midfield ranks last season, Koopmeiners would undoubtedly be a wonderful signing for the Reds and a potential upgrade over Wataru Endo.
Koopmeiners has performed admirably for Atalanta in recent years. He has made 112 appearances for Bergamo, scoring 26 goals and assisting 12 times. In addition, he has 20 caps for the Netherlands.
The ‘amazing’ talent would be a versatile option for Liverpool’s incoming manager, as he can play in a variety of midfield positions.
In 2021, Total Football Analysis stated: “The Dutchman is a very collected and cultured player at the base of midfield.
“And since he is left-footed and can drop back to play at centre-back as well, there have been some comparisons to his compatriot Daley Blind, as well as to Nemanja Matic.”
