Leeds United are making plans for the summer transfer window, with potential Premier League promotion on the horizon, and the quality of players is evident.
Leeds might have made a few signings in January but did not. The inability to add new players is not the end of the world, as Daniel Farke’s group remains harmonious.
However, if Leeds is successful in gaining promotion to the Premier League, this cannot continue in the summer. If Leeds are to progress this summer, they will require quality all over the pitch.
Leeds should focus on improving Illan Meslier, finding cover at centre-back, replacing Junior Firpo, permanently signing on-loan sensation Manor Solomon, and improving at no.10 and up front.
Leeds attempted to sign England defender in the January transfer window.
According to TeamTalk, Leeds attempted to sign Southampton and England player Kyle Walker-Peters during the January transfer window. The 27-year-old has been with Southampton for the past five years.
But, with the Saints certain for relegation despite defeating Leeds to promotion last season, Walker-Peters is searching for pastures fresh. Walker-Peters wants to stay in the Premier League, and Leeds is interested.
Southampton were eager to sell the England star for £7 million this summer, according to TeamTalk. Leeds refused to pay that amount, but their interest remains, as Walker-Peters is poised to become a free agent.
Leeds could sign Walker-Peters on a free transfer when his contract expires, but he could face competition from Premier League clubs such as Everton and Leicester City if the Foxes stay in England’s top flight.
Leeds United are interested in Archie Gray’s Spurs teammate Walker-Peters.
Walker-Peters is a Tottenham youth graduate, where Gray is now performing well. However, Leeds are also interested in signing one of Walker-Peters’ former teammates to help with the left side of the defence.
Another player who will be out of contract in the summer, Ben Davies, has previously been linked with Leeds. However, TeamTalk reports that the seasoned Welshman remains a player of interest heading into the summer.
Davies, of course, is a member of Leeds’ Wales quintet and will undoubtedly be tempted to come to Elland Road if Leeds are promoted. When Tottenham’s defenders are all fit, Davies has little chance of starting.
