Nottingham Forest have already been rejected by one manager as they look for possible candidates for Nuno Espirito Santo.
Despite ensuring Nottingham Forest’s Premier League survival last season, Nuno Espirito Santo’s availability in August remains doubtful.
It is reported that the Portuguese manager has garnered interest from a variety of places after keeping Forest in the top flight.
And this appears to have prompted Evangelos Marinakis to look for potential candidates for the 50-year-old manager at City Ground.
However, the club’s most recent efforts have been refused, in what would undoubtedly be an outrageous appointment if successful.
Forest was rejected by an established European manager.
Forest’s troubled season can now be put to bed, with Nuno keeping the Reds in contention on the final day of the season.
However, there are still certain concerns at Forest that need to be resolved before the new season begins.
One of these is Forest’s requirement to sell players by the end of the month in order to satisfy the PSR deadline of June 30.
But as Forest prepares for the new season, it is clear that there is still a lot of doubt about who will be sitting in the dugout come August.
According to rumors in Italy, Forest’s request for former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has been rejected.
Despite the ‘important’ nature of the offer, the 58-year-old is believed to be waiting for something more ‘stimulating’ to arrive.
The Italian only departed Milan at the end of the season after they finished second in Serie A, albeit well behind their local rivals.
Forest were ambitious in trying for Stefano Pioli.
Given where Forest finished last season, trying to bring in a manager of Pioli’s caliber was always going to be a risky decision.
After all, this is a manager who won the Scudetto with Milan only two years ago and finished second in a difficult Serie A season last year.
So witnessing him slip from the top tier of one of Europe’s best leagues to a team that ultimately survived by the skin of their teeth was always going to be a tall order.
Regardless of what happens with Nuno, Forest will undoubtedly want an answer soon so that they can prepare for the upcoming season.
