A player who Nottingham Forest bid for in January is reportedly preparing to leave his present club during the summer transfer window.

The Reds were forced to trim their cloth accordingly in January, signing only three players during the window.

One priority was a goalkeeper. Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos had failed to leave an impression, and Nuno Espirito Santo was unimpressed.

So the head coach went out and paid £5 million to recruit Matz Sels from Strasbourg, and he is now the team’s first choice goalkeeper.

Forest were also interested in signing another player, who has now made a significant choice about his future with his current club.

Nottingham Forest connected Alvaro Valles is set to depart.

During the January transfer window, the Reds worked tirelessly to find a new goalkeeper.

Sam Johnstone of Crystal Palace was extensively connected with Forest, but a deal could not be reached for the England international.

Another player who was the subject of an offer was Las Palmas stopper Alvaro Valles, who could potentially be ready to leave the La Liga club.

According to Estadio Deportivo, the 26-year-old has decided to leave the club and does not intend to sign a new contract.

The player’s contract will expire in the summer, and it is said that the club will only accept an offer that they believe is valuable.

Valles had a £18 million deal from Forest in January, but the Las Palmas owner rejected the offer.

It is unclear whether Forest will re-sign the Spaniard during the summer transfer window.

Forest need a big name goalkeeper this summer.

Nothing against Valles, but it’s difficult to see how he’s worth more than what Forest has already bid for him.

This season, he has eight clean sheets in 30 games, but he will arrive in England with no prior experience.

Last season, Forest had two outstanding goalkeepers in Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas, both of whom contributed throughout the campaign.

This season, the reduction in standard has been startling, and while Sels has done well, the club will undoubtedly aim to improve.

Caoimhin Kelleher has been connected with Forest, and his profile is likely to appeal to Reds fans more than Valles’.

Forest cannot afford to miss out on a goalkeeper when they next go shopping, so it will be a top priority during the summer transfer window at the City Ground.
