Report: Galatasaray’s £7 million bid for ‘outstanding’ Leeds United target was rejected this week

Galatasaray, Leeds United’s arch rivals, had a £7 million proposal rejected for a player connected with a move to Elland Road this week, but the Turkish club is set to return with an improved offer.

Leeds are looking for a new right-back, and Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle is a target this summer. Daniel Farke’s side made two £4 million bids, each with a different structure, but all were rejected.

Bogle, a 23-year-old Bramall Lane player, is not the only right-back Leeds are reportedly interested in this summer. Falaye Sacko, a Mali and Montpellier defender, has been connected, while Connor Roberts could return.

However, one Championship player on Leeds’ radar this summer has recently emerged as the subject of a £7 million bid from Galatasaray, with the Turkish club hoping to tempt him away from British football for the first time.

Galatasaray’s £7 million bid for the excellent Leeds target has been denied.

Trai Hume, Sunderland’s right-back, is the player in question. The 23-year-old entered 2023-24 having made only 37 appearances for Sunderland in his first 18 months at the Stadium of Light.

By the end of the season, he had started 46 Championship games for Sunderland. Hume, a “exceptional” right-back, is a summer transfer target for Leeds, as well as Aston Villa, Napoli, Leicester, and Bournemouth.

Sunderland want £8 million to sell Northern Ireland defender Hume. According to the Belfast Telegraph, Leeds’ rivals Galatasaray offered £7 million to bring the defender to Turkey, but it was denied.

Leeds has the money to spend, but Hume or Bogle?

Bogle appears to be the player Leeds wants to sign this summer. Even if they stay adamant about the defender’s price tag, his contract is set to expire at the end of next season.

Perhaps a compromise can be reached between Leeds’ valuation of £4 million and Sheffield United’s £7 million desire. Sunderland clearly wants more money than the sum required to sign Blades star Bogle.

Bogle has Premier League experience, having scored goals against both Manchester teams and Chelsea last season. So, for a somewhat lower fee, Bogle is clearly the better pick than Hume.
