Nottingham Forest’s recruitment approach has improved significantly this summer, although it is still far from flawless.
This year, the team still has a few players who haven’t played much games in the Garibaldi.
Forest have recruited nine new players to their roster this summer, and it appears that two or three more will join before Friday’s deadline.
Joe Worrall left the club this week after several years of service, leaving behind a few more players on the outskirts.
The four players who could depart Nottingham Forest before Friday
According to The Telegraph, Forest are not entirely focused on new additions before the deadline on Friday, but the club is looking to offload four players.
One of them is last year’s big goalkeeper signing, Matt Turner, who cost the club £10 million from Arsenal for the 2023/24 season.
He’s presently Trentside’s third option, and at 30, he wants to play regular football.
Preston is interested in Josh Bowler, who could leave the Reds without having played a single competitive game.
Hwang Ui-jo, another player who follows the credo of never playing a senior game, is also for sale at City Ground.
Another player up for grabs is Emmanuel Dennis, who appeared to have a chance under Nuno Espirito Santo but is now also available for transfer.
Forest must avoid having too many players.
Fortunately, the situation isn’t as dire this season as it was when Forest was first promoted to the Premier League.
If Forest could offload all four of these talents before the transfer deadline, it would be a successful transfer window, regardless of who comes in.
Having players who aren’t even training with the first team is not ideal, and the club must do whatever it takes to get them out the door.
Turner is perhaps in a different scenario. As the team’s third-choice stopper, he will train with them on a regular basis, but he will want to play more.
Forest is running out of time before Friday. In a perfect world, two or three more will be added, and the club will be able to find buyers for the four players who have been declared surplus to needs.
