Report: Fabrizio Romano thinks Nottingham Forest are now ready to make a bid for a £3 million target after productive conversations

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on who may become Nottingham Forest’s first signing of the summer.

The transfer window is now fully open, and Nuno Espirito Santo will be eager to add Evangelos Marinakis to his team in the coming months.

Forest’s 2023/24 season was one to forget, with the club just avoiding relegation, but there must have been some positives to take away from some of the individual performances.

Players such as Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo, and Callum Hudson-Odoi have demonstrated that Forest have the quality required to finish significantly higher than they did last term.

Perhaps it’s just a matter of strengthening the quality around those types of players, which is exactly what Forest intend to do this summer.

And it appears Romano knows Forest are about to take a significant stride towards landing their first signing of the summer.

Fabrizio Romano claims Forest are nearing their first summer signing.

It will be a month of departures at the City Ground, as Forest must sell certain players to comply with the tight PSR requirements this month.

Forest are one of the Premier League clubs who face punishment if they do not fulfill the deadline on June 30.

Several players have already emerged as potential sales this month, with the MLS showing interest in Matt Turner.

But it won’t just be exits this summer; Forest is also allegedly interested in signing Scotland international Che Adams.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Forest are now ready to exercise the release clause in Carlos Miguel’s Corinthians contract.

Talks with the player’s camp are well underway, and Forest is anticipated to activate the option following Corinthians’ match against Sao Paulo on Sunday.

Although Forest are thought to be wary until a contract is in writing and white, the Reds would pay €4 million (£3.3 million).

    Will we be going soon?

It’s the three words that many football fans want to hear from Romano during the transfer window, and it appears that his famed ‘Here We Go’ will be coming shortly.

Corinthians face Sao Paulo at 8 p.m. (UK time) on Sunday night, and Forest are anticipated to make their move after the game.

Between the sticks has been a source of considerable anxiety for Nuno, who has failed to locate the goalkeeper he wants as his number one.

However, bringing Miguel in would be a strong start to the summer transfer season, with Forest filling a clear position of need for a reasonable amount.
