With only a few days left in the January transfer window, Leeds United are anticipated to enter the market, following their tried-and-true strategy of operating close to the deadline.
Leeds fans had to wait until the club confirmed deals for Largie Ramazani, Manor Solomon, Ao Tanaka, and Isaac Schmidt over the summer, with the last two arriving at Elland Road on the final day.
However, Leeds has not been actively seeking new players. Mergim Berisha was a target before joining Augsburg, and Emi Buendia appears to be on his way to German powerhouse Leverkusen on loan.
Leeds are still looking for new players in the no.10 position, but it looks that one of them has passed them over, opting to join a Premier League team on loan despite interest from The Whites.
Julio Enciso chose Ipswich Town loan over Leeds United deal.
A Paraguay international, £9.5 million Brighton signing According to The Mail, Jamie Redknapp rated Julio Enciso as “amazing” after scoring a barnstorming goal for The Seagulls in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
This month, Enciso elected to join Ipswich on loan after falling down the Brighton pecking order. Georginio Rutter’s summer transfer from Leeds hasn’t helped his lack of game time.
LeedsUnited.News reported at the time that Leeds had wasted an opportunity with Enciso joining Ipswich. The Mail now adds that Leeds were interested in Enciso, but the Paraguayan preferred to join Ipswich.
Julio Enciso would have been the ideal No. 10 signing for Leeds.
Leeds lacks the ability to score from long range. Ao Tanaka and Dan James had a couple, but when Leeds plays against a low block, a moment of brilliance is frequently required to turn the tide.
Enciso is certainly capable of scoring from a distance. It would have provided Leeds with another tool in their arsenal, another means to win games when the Whites are thwarted in opening the door.
However, for players like Enciso, the pull of the Premier League and a relegation battle is more appealing than playing in the Championship these days. Perhaps he’ll stay a target.
