Europe continues to generate some of the world’s best young footballers. Many of them are being signed by Championship teams, such as Leeds United, who are turning some of these players into quite valuable assets.
Leeds United appear to be looking at all markets when it comes to adding new players. Daniel Farke’s side has slightly more money to spend than others in the Championship, but no one has signed in the January transfer window.
Farke did indicate that Leeds would be quiet in January, but with the number of names mentioned, it’s surprising that at least one player hasn’t made the switch to Elland Road already.
Right present, the Whites tend to be associated primarily with names playing in Europe. Leeds appear to be looking for bargain bargains for players who aren’t doing well at their current club, as well as discovering emerging talent.
Alvyn Sanches, who plays for Swiss club Lausanne-Sport, clearly falls into the latter type.
Alvyn Sanches decides on January transfer despite Leeds United interest.
Sanches, 21, has six goals and three assists in 18 league games for Lausanne this season. Journalist Ben Jacobs recently disclosed Leeds United’s interest in signing Sanches, who the Whites value for his ability to play across the front line.
According to Swiss magazine Corner Magazine, the Swiss U21s star now intends to stay with Lausanne until the summer, compete in the Swiss Super League, and gain his first cap for the senior national team.
They say that the £7.5 million-rated Sanches is now being pursued by Portuguese heavyweights Porto, Benfica, and Sporting, as well as Ajax, with ‘already known suitors’ for his signing being Rennes, Nice, Club Brugges, Bologna, and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Lausanne manager Ludovic Magnin has expressed an interest in Sanches. He described him as ‘the finest talent in Swiss football right now,’ before stating that he intends to stay until the summer.
Magnin stated: “The player has clearly signaled that he want to remain with us until the summer. I believe he wants to finish the big voyage with us and then go in the summer. That is the plan. But I can’t recall the last time a football plan worked!”
