Report: After Archie Gray, a £25,000-per-week player is now departing Leeds United

Another key player is likely to leave Leeds United, after Archie Gray left Elland Road for Tottenham in a £30 million deal.

The Whites were obliged to sell the 18-year-old wonderkid after failing to achieve an instant return to the Premier League, and Daniel Farke is about to lose another key player in the dressing room.

So, who will follow Archie Gray out of Leeds United? Let us have a look.

Liam Cooper is expected to quit Leeds United alongside Archie Gray.

TEAMtalk reports that Liam Cooper is leaving Elland Road.

Leeds were not going to offer the Scotland international a new contract when his £25,000-a-week agreement expired this summer if promotion was won, but have now proposed a 12-month extension as the Whites strive to leave the Championship next season.

However, Cooper is dissatisfied with the terms offered, mostly because he wants a two-year deal, and with both parties at odds, the man with 284 appearances for Leeds is likely to leave after a decade at Elland Road.

The 32-year-old only made eight Championship starts last season as Farke chose to utilize Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, and Pascal Struijk, but TEAMtalk believes the German manager still loves what the man from Kingston upon Hull brings behind the scenes in terms of leadership.

Daniel Farke faces an extremely difficult job next season.

If achieving promotion from the Championship wasn’t difficult enough, Farke’s life has just been even more difficult after losing two players who held Leeds in high regard.

Getting out of England’s second division requires more than just the greatest players; you also need a core of dedicated professionals who can keep people focused behind the scenes during a tough 46-game season.

Cooper is exactly that type of person, and Gray, a Leeds academy graduate who knew the club and what it takes to play at Elland Road, was undoubtedly a constructive influence behind the scenes.

With these two exiting Leeds, Farke may have an even more difficult campaign than previous season.
