Leeds United were unprepared for their promotion to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa in a variety of areas, including the playing team, backroom personnel, and behind the scenes.
One of those concerns has been resolved, since there are now multiple players in the transfer department, when previously, Victor Orta had complete control over who was signed and who departed the club.
It was Orta’s style, and there was little competition to oppose him. Leeds now has Nick Hammond, Gretar Steinsson, and Jordan Miles, with the latter joining the club from Aberdeen in February following links.
Another area is Elland Road, where demand considerably exceeds capacity, which is currently well around 40,000.
As things stand, maximum capacity at Leeds means 37,890 supporters can fit into the Whites’ stadium.
49ers make attempts to expand Elland Road.
If Leeds were in the Premier League right now, we would have the ninth largest capacity stadium.
However, because Daniel Farke’s side is a one-club city, there is a sense that Leeds is missing out on cash.
The 49ers intend to address this by widening Elland Road closer to the 50,000 mark, and according to iNews, the board has undertaken ‘additional negotiations’ with shareholders in and around the city.
The expansion to 50,000 is thought ‘pretty vital’ if Leeds are to keep up with clubs like Everton, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Newcastle, all of which have crowds ranging from 40,000 to 55,000.
The 49ers moved with the times, although Andrea Radrizzani did not.
It is an indication that Leeds are moving on from the Andrea Radrizzani period, when they appeared entrenched in their ways and unwilling to adapt. However, the 49ers are keeping up with the times.
If Leeds rises, the 49ers will get a significantly larger proportion of income for every home game, given the evident demand.
It will also increase Leeds’ transfer budget and alleviate concerns about Financial Fair Play restrictions.
In a time when teams are deducted points for breaking PSR rules, larger incoming cash that is self-generated will only aid Leeds’ progress.
And it’s encouraging to hear that the 49ers are ready for it.
