Rennes wants to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, according to Foot Mercato.
According to the French news outlet online (16 July), the Ligue 1 club is interested in signing the 22-year-old as a possible replacement for outgoing star Désiré Doué.
Rennes has yet to make a concrete offer for Summerville, while Chelsea is also interested in the forward.
It comes after Ouest France stated in their print edition (page 18, 16 July) that Glen Kamara’s move from the Whites to Rennes is nearly finalized, with an agreement in principle in place.
Rennes wants to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.
Rennes appear to be intent on raiding Elland Road during the summer transfer season.
While Kamara’s move to the French club makes sense, it would be little more surprise if Summerville agreed to join the Ligue 1 side.
Kamara had a terrific season in the Championship last year, but it is fair to say that Summerville is a more prominent player.
He was named Championship Player of the Season in 2023/24, and he may be looking for a larger team.
Rennes finished mid-table in Ligue 1 last season, and Summerville is likely looking to compete with a club in Europe.
According to the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (page 74, 14 July), the Whites are ready to let Summerville depart the club.
His departure appears unavoidable, and the more clubs interested in the forward, the better it is for Leeds.
