Leeds United has a new jersey sponsor for the 24/25 season and beyond, with Red Bull agreeing to a minority investment in the team.

Since taking over at Elland Road in the summer of 2023, the 49ers have demonstrated their commercial appeal, with celebrity investment appearing to be the tip of the iceberg.

As they try to turn the screw on Leeds’ return to the top flight, a major commercial arrangement with Red Bull has been confirmed.

This article examines the Elland Road deal in detail and its implications for the future.

What have Leeds United and Red Bull announced?

Leeds confirmed on Thursday, May 30, that it had agreed to sell a minority ownership in the club to Red Bull.

The energy drinks company will become the new shirt sponsor for the 2018 season and beyond, according to Paraag Marathe.

“I am delighted that Red Bull is partnering with us to shape a bright future for Leeds United, and I share their deep admiration for this incredibly unique club.

“As Chairman, our consortium of investment partners will be invaluable to me as we approach this pivotal moment for the club, both now and in the future.” Red Bull’s signing is a historic step that will help the club realize its maximum competitive potential.”

Red Bull will replace Boxt as the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor under a “multi-year” agreement.

Will Red Bull have any input in the club’s badge and name changes?

Fans have a major issue with Red Bull in football since they insist on rebranding clubs into their image, changing the club’s badge and name to fit the Red Bull image.

However, the statement emphasizes that this will not be the case for the time being at Elland Road.

“The transaction generates fresh commercial earnings as well as extra capital investment for a minority ownership position, allowing the team to compete on and off the pitch as it seeks promotion next season. Leeds United Football Club’s name and logo will remain intact.

According to Phil Hay of The Athletic, this investment confirmation does not grant Red Bull a seat on Leeds’ board of directors.

What is Red Bull’s net value following the Leeds deal?

According to LifestyleAsia, Red Bull’s brand value is a remarkable $18.5 billion as of 2022, with the company owning many other football teams and a mostly successful Formula One team, in addition to having 25% of the energy drink industry.

According to Bloomberg, in 2023, they will top $10.9 billion in sales for the first time, highlighting the company’s global reach.
