Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news and rumors, Murillo is still linked with a move away from the City Ground, with Real Madrid apparently interested.
Murillo of Nottingham Forest has been linked with a move to both Spanish giants this summer.
Forest bought Murillo from Corinthians last summer for around £11 million, and he signed a five-year contract until 2028. The centre-back has gone on to become a key component in the Reds’ defence this season, and his presence is critical to the club’s chances of remaining in the Premier League.
Murillo made 31 appearances for Forest in all competitions during his first season at the City Ground, including 27 in the Premier League. His defensive form has led to speculation that the 21-year-old may leave Trentside when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
According to a report in the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in signing Murillo. Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United have all been linked with the center-back this summer.
According to the article, Real Madrid has been monitoring Murillo since he joined Forest last summer. However, it is unclear whether the La Liga giants would make a bid to bring the centre-back to the Santiago Bernabeu when the transfer market opens.
As a result, Forest may face a battle to maintain Murillo, especially if Real Madrid and Barcelona make offers. According to the Daily Mail, Forest values Murillo at around £50 million, although other numbers have since surfaced.
At the beginning of April, the CIES Football Observatory upgraded Murillo’s current market value to £30 million. This represents a £20 million gain from the start of the season, providing more evidence of his impact at the City Ground in his inaugural season with the Reds.
