The Italian media has spent the last few months convincing themselves that Sandro Tonali will leave Newcastle United.
While his agent, Beppe Riso, has denied speculations of a transfer, the speculation persists. Juventus was touted as a possible destination for the midfielder last week, and now there is another claim.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has now stated that Tonali may depart Newcastle United during the summer transfer window.
In an interview with Sky Italia’s L’Originale, Di Marzio also stated that the Italian will attract international attention.
He told SpazioMilan, as it was reported: “I don’t know if he could return to Italy in June, but I think Tonali will leave Newcastle: I think there could also be an important international market for him.”
Di Marzio went on to say that Real Madrid might come knocking for the 24-year-old, who may also be interested in Manchester City.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Real Madrid signed him, but City could too. Sandro is a player who, in addition to a possible return to Italy – which he would welcome – may have an international market outlet.
Tonali is in his first full season at Newcastle United after being banned last season due to gambling troubles.
He began his career as a central midfielder but has since progressed to become a reliable defensive midfielder, which has improved Newcastle United’s season.
It demonstrates how important he is to the club, and losing him would be a major blow to Eddie Howe’s squad.
