Hamza Igamane has hinted that he wants to leave Rangers after receiving interest in the striker during the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old has been in good form this season, scoring 11 goals in all competitions, which has led to interest from clubs other than Ibrox.
However, Philippe Clement has stated that his star player is not for sale and will not leave Ibrox.
Nonetheless, Igamane is open about his intentions, telling The Scottish Sun: “Like any Moroccan footballer, my dream is to wear the Morocco national team shirt.
“I also want to support my club as much as possible.
“And, as a consequence, to play for a big club in Europe.”
Can Hamza Igamane establish himself at Rangers?
Igamane’s comments should serve as a harsh reminder to Rangers of how far they have fallen recently, as well as inspiration to return to top form.
Although the Gers are still competing in the Europa League, being 15 points behind arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership speaks volumes about the club’s current status, which is far from satisfactory.
Clement is unwilling to allow his striker leave during the transfer season, and he is under no obligation to do so at this time. He should be certain that Igamane will continue to work hard for him.
However, it should be emphasized that if the Light Blues do not make any progress moving ahead, they risk losing quality players like the 22-year-old who wants to play at a higher level, which is not currently available at Ibrox.
