Tom Lawrence is poised to depart Rangers before the winter transfer window ends, according to Darren Witcoop.
The journalist wrote on X (27 January) that numerous clubs in England and overseas have inquired about the former Manchester United player’s availability.
Lawrence, who has been plagued by injuries this season, is also nearing the end of his deal at Ibrox.
Rangers to offload Tom Lawrence.
Tom Lawrence makes £22,000 per week at Rangers, according to IbroxNoise (18 June 2024).
With the midfielder expected to leave the Light Blues when his contract expires in the summer, there is no reason why they should consider selling him for a low price this window.
If the Gers approve his departure now, they might pocket a little transfer fee while also offsetting his wages.
Lawrence does not look to be a key player in Philippe Clement’s plans for the season, having only appeared eight times in the Premiership, however injuries are also to blame.
However, Witcoop did not reveal the identities of the clubs interested in signing the 31-year-old.
Lawrence has substantial Championship experience, having previously played for Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, and Ipswich Town. It is unclear whether the Wales international will be able to return to either of those clubs.
Aside from Lawrence, Cyriel Dessers and Rabbi Matondo are anticipated to leave Rangers before the transfer window closes next Monday (3 February).
It is unknown whether Clement’s side intends to make any signings of their own.
