Rangers may be unable to afford Vaclav Cerny on a permanent move due to what has happened at Ibrox recently.
The 27-year-old signed for the Gers on loan from Wolfsburg last summer and the Bundesliga outfit are looking for £6.75million to sell him.
Cerny has been a revelation at Ibrox this season, scoring 14 goals and giving seven assists in 38 games in all competitions.
The Czech international got on the scoresheet once again as the Light Blues overcame Hearts in the Scottish Premiership at Tynecastle Stadium on Sunday (16 February).
Vaclav Cerny’s permanent Rangers transfer is unlikely.
Mark Guidi believes the Bears may not have the money to recruit Cerny from Wolfsburg this summer.
The Scottish writer does not believe the Glasgow club will have enough finances to finalize the forward’s transfer.
Guidi believes the Czech forward has been a good addition to the Gers’ squad and one of their most consistent players this season.
On the Go Radio Football Show (17 February), the journalist stated: “The other thing about Cerny is that he worries defenders.” When he’s on the ball, they sometimes double up on him because he has the skill and is one of the Rangers’ middle-to-front guys you can count on. He’s been a great signing. I got him on loan. I don’t believe the funds will be sufficient to make it permanent.”
Vaclav Cerny dealt a significant blow at Ibrox.
If the Bears are unable to lure Cerny to Ibrox next summer, it will be a significant setback for them.
The Light Blues will have to replace the 28-year-old’s goal output, which will not be an easy assignment.
Last season, the Glasgow club faced a similar choice when Abdallah Sima left the Scottish Premiership to play Champions League football.
Given Cerny’s recent performances, it’s not surprise that elite teams will be battling for his signing in the coming months.
The Gers will struggle to persuade the Czech international to continue at Ibrox, not only for financial reasons, but also because of the Scottish club’s apparent lack of ambition.
Philippe Clement’s side has nothing to play for domestically after being humiliated by Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup.
The Gers are still in the Europa League, but it’s hard to see them winning the title at the conclusion of the season.
Significant adjustments will be required at the Light Blues if they are to pursue a permanent transfer for Cerny soon.
