Keith Jackson believes Rangers will be unable to resist bids for Hamza Igamane during the summer transfer season.
According to a Daily Record journalist, interest in the Moroccan striker would only increase if he delivers another outstanding performance against Manchester United in the Europa League at Old Trafford.
If the Gers got a £10 million bid in the summer, Jackson claimed they would be forced to sell the 22-year-old for a large profit.
On Hotline Live (16 January), Jackson stated, “I don’t think you’ll see Igamane in a Rangers shirt next season.” He has made significant progress.
“And I think he’ll go down to Old Trafford…if he turns it on and looks like the player he’s looked like in the last few weeks, then the interest will really start to skyrocket.”
“They’re going to get offers they can’t refuse this summer.” This is a guy we spent £1.5 million on; if you can get a cheque for £10 million after 12 months, I’m afraid that’s the type of business [that needs to be done].”
Hamza Igamane’s transfer is a game changer for Rangers.
Igamane was largely unknown when the Bears chose to take a chance on him from AS FAR in Morocco.
At the start of the season, Philippe Clement rarely depended on the 22-year-old, with Cyriel Dessers continuing to spearhead the assault at Ibrox.
Following the Nigerian attacker’s uneven performances, the Belgian manager finally moved him to the bench, allowing Igamane to demonstrate his skills.
Rangers fans haven’t been disappointed with the Moroccan centre-forward’s performances thus far, with nine goals in his previous ten Scottish Premiership games.
The youthful sensation scored again as the Glasgow club defeated Aberdeen 3-0 at Ibrox on Wednesday (15 January) to stay in second position.
It wouldn’t be unexpected if big teams from across Europe came calling for the 22-year-old this summer.
While it may be tempting to cash in on Igamane in the coming months, he could be critical to the Bears’ success next season.
