Pundit speculates Nottingham Forest have arranged a’side deal’ with the Premier League

According to Paul Robinson, Nottingham Forest must have assurances from the Premier League that no points will be added to their sentence following their appeal.

The former England and Tottenham goalkeeper told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that he was shocked that Forest would appeal their judgment after receiving a smaller sentence for a “worse crime” than Everton.

Forest were docked four points earlier this month after being charged with violating the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Despite receiving two points off their deduction for participating in the investigation, Forest announced on Monday (March 25) that they are appealing the judgment.

According to Football Insider, there is a “disaster” scenario in which Forest may have points added to their punishment following their appeal.

Nottingham Forest must have assurances that the PSR appeal will not backfire.

The independent commission will reveal the outcome of their appeal on May 24, five days after the Premier League season ends.

Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson feels Forest should receive assurances that their deduction will not be increased.

“I wouldn’t think that Nottingham Forest would have appealed unless they know that they’re ok,” he went on to say.

“Forest look to be sure that they will not lose any more points by appealing.

“However, it appears that they had fewer points deducted for a harsher crime than Everton just because they were courteous.

“So they must have a back word somewhere that there’s no chance of getting more points but they might get some back.”
