Don Goodman feels Leeds United should sell Crysencio Summerville this summer if paid £30 million.
Summerville has been connected with a number of Premier League clubs throughout the offseason, including Brighton, Liverpool, and Newcastle United.
On June 18, talkSPORT reported that Leeds wanted £30 million for Summerville, who was voted Championship Player of the Season for 2023-24.
While losing the skilled wide winger would leave a significant vacuum to fill, Goodman believes the move might eventually benefit Leeds.
“As good as he was last season – and he was really good until the final eight games or so – if Leeds can get £30m for him and then spend that wisely, it would be a good deal,” MOT Leeds News quoted him as saying.
“It would offer them a chance to change things up a bit. Summerville’s departure allows them to bring in two or three excellent newcomers to the club who will play in the starting XI.
“If they do that, they’d only be adding to the strongest squad in the Championship and it could be a great season for them.”
Leeds United must remain hard on Crysencio Summerville’s worth.
The sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham ensures that Leeds are unlikely to breach any financial regulations in the near future.
That means the team might maintain Willy Gnonto, Summerville, and other players who have been linked with top-flight clubs.
Daniel Farke will not want to lose Summerville after his brilliant performance last time out.
However, if Leeds is clever about their business and can bring in a few players, it may be a prudent decision.
Clubs will be aware that the Whites have money to spend and will hence up their asking price for a player, although there are methods around this.
In any case, if this is the course United intends to take, they must make a choice quickly, rather than after the season begins.
