Nottingham Forest play their first pre-season friendlies today against Chesterfield.
On Saturday, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team will travel to the Technique Stadium to face the League Two outfit.
Most Forest players have only recently returned to training after their summer breaks, and supporters may get their first sight at some of the new signings.
Given that it is preseason and the first game of their summer endeavors, a heavily rotated lineup is not uncommon.
However, Forest fans may see a mix of youth and the club’s elite talent as they begin their preparations for the new season.
Matz Sels, a Belgium international, will not be available for selection today because he is currently enjoying his summer break after the Euros.
Nuno gives summer signings their first start.
Forest have made a positive start to the summer transfer window, with four new players already joining the club.
Elliot Anderson was the big-money signing from Newcastle United late last month, costing Forest about £35 million.
More recently, Corinthians’ giant goalkeeper Carlos Miguel was signed.
The Brazilian shot stopper has already begun training with his new team after the transfer was announced earlier this week.
This summer, Forest also signed winger Eric da Silva Moreira from German club St. Pauli.
All of these players will be available for selection today against the League Two side.
Opportunities for Forest youngsters
Detlef Esapa Osong, Forest’s 19-year-old centre-forward, was observed training this week ahead of the encounter later today.
The striker enters the summer after scoring six goals and assisting twice for Forest’s U21s previous season.
Josh Powell, a left-back, is another young player who could make his debut against Chesterfield.
The 19-year-old, like Esapa Osong, is said to have trained with Nuno’s first squad earlier this week.
Murillo to give fans some confidence.
This summer, there has been a lot of talk about Forest’s Brazilian center-back and speculation regarding his future.
Murillo has been heavily linked with a transfer elsewhere this summer, only 12 months after joining the club.
However, the 22-year-old is back in training with Forest and has been sighted wearing his new number five.
Starting him on Saturday may reassure fans about his future in the coming weeks.
Nottingham Forest’s expected XI against Chesterfield: Carlos Miguel; Neco Williams, Murillo, Andrew Omobamidele, Josh Powell; Ryan Yates, Elliot Anderson; Eric da Silva Moreira, Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi; Detlef Esapa Osong.
