Predicted Leeds United XI vs Sheffield Wednesday: Three changes as Daniel Farke makes a vital midfield call

Daniel Farke may be tempted to make changes to Leeds United’s lineup for tonight’s match against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites play their final four matches in nine days, and some changes may be required this evening to guarantee his starting XI has a new feel.

Farke made three changes to his squad that overcame Stoke City 1-0 on Tuesday night, and a similar number could be expected after a lethargic second half performance at Elland Road.

Leeds have no new injury concerns going into the game, therefore Jaidon Anthony is expected to miss out again due to personal reasons. Pascal Struijk is still not ready, either.

Illan Meslier, the goalkeeper, maintained his position after a strong performance in midweek.

    Defence
Connor Roberts made his first league start against Stoke and deserves to keep his spot at right-back after another strong performance. He also contributes his leadership and experience.

Sam Byram also returned to the Championship starting lineup for the first time since New Year’s Day, but it’s crucial not to overwork him, so Junior Firpo begins at left-back.

With Struijk still not ready, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon continue to play together at centre-back.

    Midfield
Archie Gray was given a welcome rest against Stoke, but with Roberts doing enough to preserve his position in defence, the 17-year-old should go into midfield in place of Glen Kamara.

Ilia Gruev maintains his position as the more deep-lying option, allowing Gray to press forward box-to-box.

    Attack
Dan James scored in his comeback to the starting lineup against Stoke, but he was out of breath at the end, so Willy Gnonto steps in.

Farke is likely to have trust in the remaining front three of Georginio Rutter, Patrick Bamford, and Crysencio Summerville, while Mateo Joseph is not far away from making his debut.

Predicted lineup: Meslier; Roberts, Rodon, Ampadu, Firpo; Gray, Gruev; Gnonto, Rutter, Summerville, Bamford.
