Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord has been advised to give a prospective move to Nottingham Forest serious consideration rather than dismiss it outright.
Karim el Ahmadi discusses the current situation, as given by 1908, and encourages the Feyenoord striker to consider the issue thoroughly before dismissing it outright.
Nottingham Forest have been trying to sign the Mexican for the past week or so, with a first bid rejected and a second apparently on the table.
Feyenoord has been hostile to the notion, as has the player, with sources indicating that he has openly said that he is not interested in the trade.
He has apparently set his sights higher and may be unwilling to forego Champions League play with Feyenoord in exchange for a possible Premier League relegation struggle at Nottingham Forest.
That has not deterred Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who are still bidding for the player and hoping that their persistence will persuade both parties to come to the table.
El Ahmadi has asked the athlete to explore the offer, since it includes more benefits than he may be aware of.
“Nottingham does have an excellent trainer in Nuno Espirito Santo and Giménez can compete with the best defenders there,” according to him.
“You forfeit the Champions League when you leave. However, England has a high number of Champions League matches. Manchester City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea. You have to work every week.
“I was once able to visit Nottingham, although they did not compete in the Premier League at the time. So I said no. But when Aston Villa arrived, I was gone.
“The Premier League is where I want to go. That rivalry was already very appealing at the time, and it has only grown in popularity. As a player, you wonder, “How often does this opportunity come along?” Anyone who gambles must be confident in himself.”
