Following the 2-2 draw at Goodison, Paul O’Keefe praised one Tottenham player in particular.
Tottenham Hotspur appeared to have sealed all three points against Everton when Jarrad Branthwaite’s last-minute equaliser saved a point for the Toffees.
Richarlison, a former Everton forward, returned to torment his old club by opening the goal for the visitors just four minutes in with a first-time volley off Destiny Udogie’s ball.
Calvert-Lewin tied the game around the half-hour mark, but Richarlison reclaimed the lead for Spurs five minutes later with a magnificent goal from 20 yards out.
Ange Postecoglou’s team was on course to win all three points until Branthwaite scored a point for the home side in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
Regardless of the outcome, a Lilywhites player, other than Richarlison, made an outstanding performance.
Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven’s outstanding performance earned plaudits from dependable Spurs insider and correspondent Paul O’Keefe on his social media site, X.
He performed admirably, with a 91% pass accuracy, 74 touches, 53 out of 58 passes completed, 6 duels won, 6 clearances, 4 ball recoveries, a perfect tackle rate, and a successful last man tackle.
Since signing for Spurs, the 22-year-old has been world-class. The North Londoners signed him from Wolfsburg in the offseason.
Van de Ven was a regular on the Lilywhites’ starting lineup for the first 11 league games of the season before being sidelined for two months due to hamstring injury. He returned last month against Manchester United and has reclaimed his place in the starting lineup.
The defender has gradually settled in and returned to his pre-injury form. This is why Paul O’Keefe quickly complimented the player, stating:
“The result yesterday overshadowed Mickey van de Ven’s amazing effort. Another imperious display. He’s 22 years old and plays Premier League football as if he’s done it his entire life, not just the six months he’s been out injured. Majestic.”
Micky van de Ven certainly has a degree of maturity at such a young age that is comparable to that of a Premier League veteran. Tottenham clearly has a jewel in their ranks, and he appears to be a long-term veteran on the backline.
