Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has chosen his starting lineup for Friday’s (23 February) Championship match against Leicester City.
The Whites enter the top-two matchup on an eight-game winning streak in the league to start 2024, with seven clean sheets.
Farke kept his starting lineup unchanged after a 2-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle last week, according to the club’s Twitter account [23 February].
The starting lineup remained unchanged, however Patrick Bamford and Jaidon Anthony returned as substitutes, while Joe Gelhardt and Dani van den Heuvel were withdrawn from the matchday roster.
Jamie Vardy is missing for Leicester City.
It’s no surprise that Farke has stuck with the same team that extended their winning streak with a straightforward victory over Plymouth.
Daniel James is pressing for a recall, but Wilfried Gnonto has been in excellent form, while Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville, and Joe Piroe are all making themselves untouchable.
Similarly, midfielders Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara have excelled, as have the back four of Archie Gray, Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, and Junior Firpo.
The good news for Farke is that Bamford has returned to the squad and will almost certainly play from the bench at some point.
One player who will not be playing at Elland Road is Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, who is not on the visitors’ squad.
Leicester have been the best team in the division throughout the season, but Leeds now have a great opportunity to come back and tighten their grip on a top-two berth.
