Leeds United are still rebuilding and have accepted an offer for one of their big-money players from the Marcelo Bielsa era.
The Whites are facing a busy summer after failing to earn promotion last season, with a number of their star players linked with moves away.
Indeed, Leeds have already sold Archie Gray to Tottenham for about £40 million, while players such as Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto are still being linked with moves elsewhere.
Aside from the above-mentioned players, Leeds fans and manager Daniel Farke are less concerned about losing.
One of such players is Diego Llorente, a defender.
According to Graham Smyth of the Yorkshire Post, Leeds has accepted an offer to sell the Spaniard.
Leeds accepts improved offer to sell. Diego Llorente
Llorente is said to be in negotiations with Real Betis about returning to Spain, and Smyth has confirmed that Leeds accepted a proposal overnight.
Smyth added the following statement to provide further context for the incident and to discuss Llorente’s time at Elland Road.
“It will remain undisclosed, but don’t expect it to differ significantly from the data revealed yesterday. Just an improvement. He came, passed it well to the forwards’ feet, looked like a bomb-scare when defending, and then left. Adios.”
Of course, Leeds paid roughly £23 million to sign Llorente in the first place, and it is unlikely they will get that much money back for him.
The Spanish international was on loan at Roma last season and did well, but he will now return to Spain and play in La Liga for the first time since 2020.
Leeds, however, will hope the amount collected will lessen the impact of not gaining promotion and maybe take the weight off of other sales.
