O’Rourke: Nottingham Forest might receive a fresh severe points deduction

According to Football Insider, Nottingham Forest are on the verge of breaking the Premier League’s profit and sustainability guidelines (PSR) again.

On the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior writer Pete O’Rourke revealed that Forest may have to sell players this summer to balance the books and get their finances in order.

The Reds were docked four points in March for violating Premier League spending restrictions.

If they break the regulations again in the near future, they could face another points deduction, according to O’Rourke, after the club reported a £61.5 million operational loss in their most recent accounts.

Nottingham Forest might face a second point deduction.

Forest might benefit handsomely from a handful of players if they are obliged to balance the books this summer.

Interest is expected in attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and defender Murillo, as well as winger Anthony Elanga, who has impressed this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo will not want to lose any of his key players, but he may not have an option even if his team remains in the Premier League.

The Reds gave their survival prospects a huge boost against Sheffield United on May 4, winning 3-1 at Bramall Lane.

The team is also waiting to hear whether their points deduction appeal was successful, which might result in extra points being returned to the board.

However, there will be concerns at the City Ground about any potential sanctions that Forest may face as they continue to follow the financial fair play guidelines.
