Archie Gray of Leeds United will turn down offers to join Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, according to Football Insider sources.
On the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior journalist Pete O’Rourke stated that the midfielder will remain at Elland Road and sign a new contract if they are promoted.
Gray has made 43 appearances for the Championship club in all competitions this season, playing in midfield and right back.
According to Football Insider on Thursday (4 March), the Whites will contemplate selling the 18-year-old if they are unable to collect enough revenue from the sale of their loan players.
Leeds United ace to turn off European heavyweights in favor of Elland Road stay
Last month, sources told Football Insider that Tottenham was one of several Premier League clubs interested in the teenager.
The Whites are now second in the Championship table under Daniel Farke, with automatic promotion on the horizon.
“Obviously, there is a lot of speculation about Archie Gray, which is not surprising,” he said on the Inside Track podcast.
“He has been the star player for Leeds this season, unquestionably one of the top young players in the country.
“So it’s no surprise that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have recently expressed interest in Gray, but I don’t see anything happening with him in the near future.
“I believe Leeds will be determined to keep him, and if they win promotion, I fully expect Gray to stay at the club and possibly sign a new deal, which he deserves for what he’s done this season, playing both right-back and midfield.
“He’s been Leeds’ most versatile player this season, and they won’t want to lose him. However, if they are not promoted, they may find themselves vulnerable to offers, since vultures will be circling around.
“A young English player will appeal to elite clubs not only in Europe, but also in the Premier League.
“So I think for Leeds’ sake, if they can get promotion, I’m sure it will go a long way to securing Gray’s long-term future at the club too.”
