Leeds United are aiming to keep at least one of Crysencio Summerville or Willy Gnonto this season, and Daniel Farke understands that clarity is vital heading into August.
Leeds enter the Championship season with automatic promotion as the only goal for Daniel Farke and his side after missing out last season.
Transfers into the club are not a pressing issue as the club returns from Germany, but outgoings must be addressed.
Daniel Farke discusses Summerville and Gnonto rumors.
Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto appear to be the most likely to leave the club moving forward.
Farke would prefer not to see another Luis Sinisterra development late in the window, leaving the club with little time to replace him with someone of comparable caliber.
Following the club’s victory over Schalke, Farke told LeedsLive:
“If you work with anxiousness in this business, you are in the wrong place. We understand that we are not PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) or Real Madrid right now, and we cannot afford to sign every player.
“We spoke openly and honestly about the past, which has forced us into circumstances where we have had to consider our financial condition within the regulations. Yes, our hands may be slightly more tied than those of other clubs.
“We need to get there with sensible judgments and no anxiousness because there are so many players who want to wear the Leeds shirt.
“If one or two players depart, I am confident we will find competent replacements. I hope that our best solutions remain in place for the time being.
Leeds must be ready for the Summerville exodus.
It seems likely that Leeds anticipate Summerville’s departure this summer and have a plan in place to replace him.
If the intention is to keep Gnonto as the starting left winger while recruiting someone to play on the right, it makes perfect sense to cash in.
However, Leeds should issue ultimatums over the timing of an exit for either of these two, understanding that a Sinisterra situation would be disastrous here.
