Nuno Espirito Santo, Nottingham Forest’s head coach, is hoping that new contracts with Ola Aina and Chris Wood can be reached soon.
The two have six months remaining on their existing contracts and have yet to sign new ones. Talks have taken place, and the Reds are thought to be optimistic about reaching an arrangement with both players, but they are conscious that time is of the essence.
Players whose contracts expire in June were permitted to negotiate with overseas teams beginning on January 1. Those impacted can sign pre-contract agreements to ensure their futures are decided well before the campaign ends.
However, Nuno has delivered a favorable report on defender Aina and striker Wood. And he is convinced that the off-field conversation will not distract the pair.
When asked if he believes the club would soon have Aina and Wood locked down, Nuno answered, “I think so. I believe things are going well, and the players are working extremely hard.”
According to reports, Forest is considering a one-year deal for Wood, who has admirers in Europe, Saudi Arabia, and the MLS. However, the New Zealand international is thought to be looking for a two-year contract because he wants to stay at City Ground.
