Nottingham Forest’s previous director of football, Kyriakos Dourekas, has left the club, according to Football Insider sources.
According to a Companies House application on Monday (5 August), Dourekas is no longer a Forest director, and his job at City Ground has ceased.
The Montreal native joined the Premier League club in December 2018, having previously spent 25 years with Olympiakos.
Dourekas was appointed Forest’s director of football by owner Evangelos Marinakis after working together at the Greek club.
The 61-year-old was appointed to the City Ground’s board of directors in March 2022 and has been commended for the changes he has overseen in the first team, academy, stadium, and training ground operations.
Dourekas is seen to have played an important part in helping Forest secure their long-awaited return to the Premier League in 2022.
Nottingham Forest earned Premier League survival amid PSR difficulties.
Forest’s board now consists of co-owner Sokratis Kominakis, chairman Tom Cartledge, director Ioannis Vrentzos, and non-executive directors Jonny Owen, Simon Forest, and Nicholas Randall, K. C.
Ross Wilson has been in charge of football operations since joining Nottingham from Rangers in April 2023 as chief football officer.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will compete in the Premier League again this season after avoiding relegation last season despite receiving a four-point deduction for violating profit and sustainability guidelines (PSR).
Forest were thought to be near to the PSR limit again in 2023-24, but last-minute sales of Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhate to Lyon, as well as Odysseas Vlachodimos’ move to Newcastle United before the 30 June accounting deadline, are expected to see them meet the financial regulations.
However, Football Insider revealed on July 26 that the Premier League could investigate if Vlachodimos’ £20 million transfer cost was overstated.
