Nottingham Forest submitted a transfer message to Djed Spence amid the Tottenham update

Latest Nottingham Forest news: ex-Reds defender in the spotlight ahead of summer transfer window.

The future of Nottingham Forest promotion winner Djed Spence has generated speculation among Reds supporters.

The right-back could be on the move again this summer, following a series of loan periods since his big-money signing to Tottenham Hotspur two years ago. According to trade expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are expected to let “several” players leave the club this summer, with Spence among those “set to” leave.

Following an early exit from Leeds United, the 23-year-old played the second half of the season with Italian club Genoa. He previously played for Rennes during the 2022/23 season.

The defender played an important role in securing the Reds’ return to the Premier League in 2022. He thrived in the Garibaldi while on loan from Middlesbrough, appearing 46 times and scoring three goals for the team.

Many Forest fans would have liked to see him sign on a permanent basis that summer, but he chose to move to the capital. It hasn’t worked out for him since, and with his future uncertain, Reds fans have debated whether they want to see him return to the City Ground.

@DJA_7: We don’t need Djed Spence since Ola Aina and Neco Williams are experienced Premier League fullbacks. And, truthfully, he isn’t.

@Craig74Nov: Spence was DJed back at Forest; no thanks. He has been startling everywhere he has gone since. Not even Premier League-proven.

@NottmForestNow: Some fans have short memories. Spence is one of the most talented players I’ve seen at Forest. Single-handedly utilized to control games from the right back position. Bring him home!

@GarethJD: Can we all stop with the Spence nonsense? We don’t need him. Williams and Aina are streets ahead of him. He was kicked out of Leeds for a terrible attitude. The Spence ship sailed long ago.

@AndrewNewts: To all Spence fans who want him back…Neco Williams has proven that he is substantially improved.

@RichardWhite21: Get me Ryan Sessegnon and Spence from the Spurs.

@ForestNews_Info: Yes. I’d rather sign Spence than Neco at the conclusion of 21/22… Neco has performed well in the second part of the season, which is excellent, but we’ll still need competition and depth now that Montiel and Aurier have left. If the price is reasonable, why not?

@YouBloodyReds: I completely understand the want to get Spence back, but if we’re going to sign a fullback, it has to be an LB for me. Richards has rarely played this year; I like Toff as our cover, but Williams and Aina are also right-footed. Natural LB promotes equilibrium and long-term thinking.
