Nottingham Forest star, described as ‘excellent’ by Jamie Carragher, will be offered new contract, according to journalist

Nottingham Forest are currently planning to give a new contract to a player who Nuno Espirito Santo regards as important.

The Reds have already moved rapidly since the season’s end to lock down some players.

Ola Aina and Willy Boly have signed new contracts and will continue at City Ground next season.

The Reds are set to face competition for some of their top players this summer.

Morgan Gibbs-White has been linked with both West Ham and Tottenham this summer.

Murillo is being pursued by two Premier League clubs, while Callum Hudson-Odoi is also a target.

However, it appears that one player is on the list of players Forest wants to maintain beyond this summer.

Forest will offer new deal to Ryan Yates.

In true Ryan Yates fashion, he stepped up when it counted last season, leading the squad to safety in the final weeks.

There is still an argument that he needs to have a greater influence on games, but his passion and desire are undeniable.

In a Q&A with The Athletic, Daniel Taylor said that Yates will be offered a new contract with Forest.

He stated, “Ryan Yates is set to be offered a new contract.

“His present contract expires next year, and Forest has to sign him. I imagine he’d want to stay.

“But, as captain and longest-serving player, he is entitled to a bigger wage.

“I know he can divide opinion sometimes but it’s not fair, ultimately, that he is one of the lower-paid players and there are people at the club earning three or four times his salary.”

Yates must kick again next season.

At 26 years old, Yates feels like he’s been with Forest forever, but he must keep aiming for consistency.

Okay, Yates does not have a role on the squad that requires him to shoot in the top corner from 20 yards every week, but there is still room for improvement.

In the Premier League, merely running around isn’t enough; he needs to take a more deliberate approach to his midfield duties.

Yates has had some impressive performances in the Premier League, with Jamie Carragher describing him as ‘amazing’ during a draw with Chelsea in January 2023.

Given his age, he has time on his side, but with talented center midfielders in the group, he understands the importance of maintaining a high level of performance.

Danilo was fantastic in the second half of last season, and Nicolas Dominguez also had a good season.

Furthermore, Ibrahim Sangare is still with the team, and he may improve next season after a full preseason.

With Yates presently serving as captain, it’s definitely a good idea to sign him to a new contract, and it’ll be interesting to see when this happens.
