Morgan Gibbs-White was a doubt for England’s Nations League games after being pulled off with an injury against Chelsea over the weekend.
Morgan Gibbs-White, a Nottingham Forest midfielder, has been removed from the England squad due to injury.
The 24-year-old was called up by interim boss Lee Carsley for the Three Lions’ Nations League matches against Greece and Finland this month. However, due to a late fitness test, he will not play and will remain at Forest for the international break.
The FA has stated that Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa and Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo will withdraw, and no substitutes will be called up. Gibbs-White was pulled off in the 76th minute of Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea, just a day before he was scheduled to join the national squad for the second time.
In the aftermath of the game at Stamford Bridge, the midfielder has gone silent on social media as fans wait to learn the extent of his injuries. Forest have already been without midfielders Danilo and Ibrahim Sangare in the first few weeks of the season.
“He will be evaluated, and tomorrow he will undergo a scan to determine whether he can join the England group. “I hope for the best,” stated head coach Nuno Espirito Santo following the Chelsea match.
Gibbs-White, an Under-17 World Cup and Under-21 Euros winner, received his first international call-up for last month’s internationals as England kicked off their latest Nations League campaign. He made his senior debut as a second-half replacement in a 2-0 win against Republic of Ireland at Aviva Stadium.
Harry Kane is likely to play for the Three Lions despite an injury scare. The England captain was substituted in Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt due to a collision.
