Nottingham Forest face Everton today at Goodison Park, and we’ve looked at a potential lineup.
The stakes couldn’t be higher today. Luton were thrashed 5-1 by Brentford yesterday, and this afternoon presents a major opportunity for both Everton and Forest.
Whoever wins three points this afternoon will be well positioned to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season. The losers will remain in serious trouble.
Ahead of this afternoon’s game, we looked at a potential Forest lineup.
Predicted Nottingham Forest team to face Everton.
Matz Sels will undoubtedly be given the starting goalkeeper position. He has now established himself as the City Ground’s number one goalie.
To be brutally honest, we do not expect much change ahead of Sels, with the back four largely picking themselves.
Andrew Omobamidele and Murillo will start as the central defensive pair. Neco Williams and Ola Aina are scheduled to play on the right and left, respectively.
We believe that there may be a change in center midfield soon.
Ryan Yates has had a few of poor outings, and Nicolas Dominguez could come into the lineup today.
He will almost definitely partner Danilo, with Morgan Gibbs-White starting at number 10 and taking over the captaincy from Yates.
The Brazilian has been working well with Gibbs-White, and the two might cause problems for Everton today.
Out wide, the hope is that Anthony Elanga can return to the fold. He has been handled this week, and ideally he and Callum Hudson-Odoi will be able to take their places out wide.
Up front, Chris Wood will lead the line and seek to add to his 13 goals this season.
Who else is in the running for Forest vs Tottenham?
Espirito Santo is once again concerned about Taiwo Awoniyi and Willy Boly’s fitness for this one.
If both players are fit, they will undoubtedly enter into the head coach’s consideration for this match.
Giovanni Reyna started against Wolves last weekend, but he is expected to sit out today if Forest winger Elanga is fit.
Rodrigo Ribeiro had an eye-catching cameo appearance last weekend and will also seek to play a role in this afternoon’s match.
There will be plenty of midfield alternatives on the bench, including Yates, Ibrahim Sangare, and Cheikhou Kouyate.
Divock Origi will provide more contention for a place in the attacking lineup, while Matt Turner will serve as the replacement goalie.
Nottingham Forest’s anticipated team versus Everton: Sels; Williams, Omobamidele, Murillo, Aina; Dominguez, Danilo; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood.
