Murillo was not a household name in Brazil in August 2023, when he joined Nottingham Forest FC.
The defender had shown some promise at Corinthians but was far from one of the top players in the country.
It turns out that his move to Nottingham Forest elevated him to a new level, and as stated by UOL, he may now receive his first call up for the national squad.
According to the newspaper, while on tour in Europe, Brazil’s new manager, Dorival Junior, watched 25 players live.
Murillo is one of only five players on that list who have never been called up by the national team previously. He competes for a central defense spot with Marquinhos, Beraldo, Diego Carlos, Thiago Silva, Gabriel Magalhães, and Gabriel Paulista.
The Nottingham Forest star has received a lot of appreciation from the Brazilian media in recent months, with many headlines emphasizing his swift transition to the Premier League. So an international debut would be unsurprising at this point.
Dorival Junior will receive his first call-up on Friday, for friendlies against England and Spain in March.
