Nottingham Forest are eager to sell a player who has made only 17 appearances for the Reds.
As you may have heard, the Garibaldi must raise £20 million by June 30th in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability criteria, which could involve selling a lot of marginal players like Joe Worrall and Matt Turner.
Nottingham Forest are reportedly looking to transfer a player who has yet to establish himself at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest wants to sell Ibrahim Sangare.
According to the Mirror, Nottingham Forest are open to selling Ibrahim Sangare.
The Ivory Coast international joined from PSV Eindhoven for a reported £30 million in September 2023, having established himself as one of Europe’s greatest defensive midfielders with the Dutch side.
However, Sangare failed in his debut season at Nottingham Forest, appearing in only 17 games during a difficult season.
The Ivorian not only witnessed the man who signed him, Steve Cooper, receive his P45 before Christmas, but the Nottingham Forest No.6 also experienced a spate of ailments that hampered his progress, before the Africa Cup of Nations brought further disruption to his career at the City Ground.
By the time Sangare returned from AFCON, Nuno Espirito Santo had already worked closely with a number of other players, and the 26-year-old battled to break into the Portuguese tactician’s starting lineup during a tough relegation battle.
According to the Mirror, Nottingham Forest are unlikely to get anything close to the £30 million paid on the man from Abidjan this summer if a buyer comes up.
Ivory Coast International should be maintained.
In our opinion, there is little value in selling Sangare.
According to the Mirror, Nottingham Forest are unlikely to recoup their £30 million investment following a poor debut season in English football, therefore unless the midfielder himself wants to leave, it would make more sense to allow him another season to exhibit his abilities.
With a complete pre-season under his belt and no AFCON next season, Sangare has a decent chance of recovering his best form, which might end up raising his value above the £30m Nottingham Forest spent, especially as he is still only 26 years old. Hopefully, the Reds keep with him.
