According to Football Insider, Nottingham Forest will receive a decision on their points deduction appeal by May 25.
Speaking on the current episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke said that the Reds will find out the decision of their appeal late next month, after the Premier League season ended.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side received a four-point deduction last month for violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations over the three years preceding and including the 2022-23 season.
They surpassed their permissible losses by £34.5 million and were set to get a six-point reduction, however two points were erased due to their cooperation with the investigation.
The date for Nottingham Forest’s points deduction appeal hearing has been revealed.
Forest indicated on March 25 that they would file an appeal, and they remain hopeful that the deduction might be lowered or eliminated.
However, finance expert Kieran Maguire exclusively told Football Insider (2 April) that if their PSR appeal is successful, the club should expect to receive no more than one point back.
O’Rourke stated that it would be “mental” if Forest did not get the verdict of their appeal by the conclusion of the season, as clubs may be in relegation limbo.
“The appeal is ongoing,” said O’Rourke on the Inside Track program.
“Forest has filed an appeal, and all appeals, including Everton’s, must be considered by May 25 and verdicts issued.
“This might go on like Everton’s second charge, and all choices must be made by then, which is a week after the Premier League season ends.
“That’s mental as there could be a scenario where clubs don’t know what league they’re playing in.”
Nottingham Forest are 17th in the Premier League rankings after losing 3-1 at Tottenham on Sunday (7 April).
They will next meet Wolves at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon (April 13).
