Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news: Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds connected with Porto centre-back
Nottingham Forest are thought to be in the running to recruit Porto defender David Carmo as they try to bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
The Premier League transfer window is now open, and it is crucial for the Reds. They need to balance the books while also increasing Nuno’s resources in order to start next season.
Forest are anticipated to explore at centre-back, particularly with Brazilian ace Murillo gaining popularity among fans. According to sources from Portugal, Carmo is on the club’s radar.
Premier League rivals Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers have already been linked. According to Portuguese publication Record (via Sport Witness), the Reds have surfaced as a potential signing destination for the 24-year-old.
Carmo has completed his loan stay with Olympiacos, Forest’s fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club. According to the Record, the Greek club’s option to buy the player for 17.5 million euros (approximately £15 million) will expire at the end of this month, and they are trying to fund a permanent deal.
Carmo, an Angola international, played the second half of the 2023/24 season for Olympiacos. He was a frequent starter and appeared in last month’s Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina.
Forest are expected to evaluate their central defensive ranks this summer. Felipe, Scott McKenna, and Loic Mbe Soh have been released; the latter two were on loan last season. Joe Worrall and Jonathan Panzo are expected to go on, and Murillo has plenty of suitors. Willy Boly signed a new contract last month, and the club also has Moussa Niakhate and Andrew Omobamidele on its roster.
