Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news: Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds want summer window acquisitions.
Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers.
Nuno Espirito Santo, the head coach, has identified out wide as an area of the pitch that has to be strengthened. According to sources from Italy, Saelemaekers could be a solution for the Reds.
However, they are not the only English team keeping an eye on the 25-year-old. According to Calciomercato, the “Premier League is crazy” about Saelemaekers.
In addition to Forest, freshly promoted Leicester City and Ipswich Town are believed to be interested in the Belgian international. According to reports, all three teams contacted Milan for information on the player.
Saelemaekers’ contract with the Italian heavyweights expires in two years and is worth around £8-12.5 million. According to reports, Milan will “listen to offers” for the wide man, preferring a permanent transfer over a loan arrangement.
The Belgian impressed while on loan at Bologna last season. He scored four goals and provided three assists in 32 games to help the Serie A club qualify for the Champions League.
Nuno wants to end the summer window with enough depth in all areas while working with a small team. He wants additional winger alternatives as he aims to lead a charge up the table in 2024/25.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga had outstanding debut seasons at the City Ground after signing a year ago. Nuno, on the other hand, wants competition and cover for the pair.
He stated following last Saturday’s 3-0 friendly victory against Chesterfield: “Everyone can see we need wingers. The only natural wingers we have are Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga.
“You always have to add the correct pieces; it’s pointless to bring (players) in just because. We need to finalize everything with the guys we bring in.”
Nuno’s statements indicate that Josh Bowler is not part of his plans for the upcoming season. Since joining the Reds in 2022, the former Blackpool man has been on loan several times. After returning from a spell at Cardiff City, he scored against the Spireites but is expected to leave this summer.
