Jonjo Shelvey, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, has expressed interest in staying at Çaykur Rizespor for the upcoming season, according to Turkish media.

Shelvey spent the season on loan with the Super Lig side and performed admirably for Rize.

Karadeniz Gazete reported today on the Nottingham Forest player’s comments in which he expressed hope that the two clubs may reach an agreement to keep him in Turkey. Shelvey went on to express his optimism that his future would be resolved in the coming days.

“My heart wants to stay here, but my will does not let it. The two clubs need to reach an agreement. There’s no reason why there shouldn’t be an agreement. “Hopefully, there will be good news in the coming days,” stated the former Liverpool player.

Last month, we highlighted reports from Turkey that Rizespor wants Shelvey to stay with the club.
team director Hasan Yavuz Bakır expressed interest in negotiating a contract for the 32-year-old with Nottingham Forest this summer. However, he clarified that the team does not have the responsibility or option to buy the player permanently.
