He could be the man who succeeds Murillo at City Ground.
According to one rumor, Nottingham Forest may have identified their first signing of the summer, but they may have to pay a premium to close the deal.
The forest is almost safe, but there are still concerns ahead.
Despite a terrible season and a points deduction for violating financial fair play laws, Nuno Espírito Santo’s team is expected to remain in the Premier League for at least another season.
The City Ground team requires only three points from their last two games to be mathematically certain of remaining in the top tier next season, however a point this weekend against Chelsea might still suffice if Luton and Burnley both fail to win their games.
However, Forest’s woes may not end there, as it has been revealed that they will likely need to sell one of its key players again this summer in order to comply with Premier League requirements, just a year after parting ways with Brennan Johnson.
Murillo and midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White appear to be the most likely contenders to leave, and it appears that if the former departs the City Ground, the Midlands club has already lined up a replacement.
Forest eyeing £20 million defender
According to French source L’Equipe, the Reds are one of three Premier League clubs looking to recruit promising Toulouse defender Logan Costa.
The 6 foot 3 centre-back has made 29 Ligue 1 appearances this season, scoring once and assisting once, and he also represented Cape Verde in the Africa Cup of Nations, where his country was eliminated on penalties by South Africa.
His performances have piqued the interest of Premier League clubs, including Forest and Fulham, as well as an unnamed team, and the French site claims that a “big transfer” is “looming” for the 23-year-old.
Forest may be that move, and they have already taken the first step by making an enquiry about the defender. Costa still has two years left on his £7k per week term in the south of France, and Toulouse is expected to seek more than 20 million euros (£16 million) to let him depart.
In an ideal scenario, they would like to set a record fee, which is now £20 million for Issa Diop, who moved to West Ham United in 2018, but whether they can do so for another young potential defender remains to be seen.
Atletico Madrid and Villarreal are both rumored to be interested, with Diego Simeone’s side in particular looking for a new defender after Mario Hermoso reportedly left on a free transfer this summer.
However, if Murillo leaves the City Ground, Forest will have the cash to satisfy Toulouse’s demands for Costa, and they may be among the frontrunners to sign him.
