Nottingham Forest were once interested in Marmoush, but his arrival at Manchester City may free up another player with whom they’ve been linked.
According to Sky Sports Germany, the arrival of Omar Marmoush at Manchester City has the potential to topple another transfer domino.
Reporter Florian Plettenberg claims the Egyptian’s transfer to the Etihad Stadium from Eintracht Frankfurt has created a ‘open door’ for James McAtee to move on. Plettenberg says Bayer Leverkusen have ‘always been interested’ in the winger and that he is a ‘dream target’ for Mainz 05.
Ironically, after missing out on the chance to sign Marmoush during the summer transfer window, Nottingham Forest may now benefit from the 25-year-old’s transfer, having been linked with the City youngster, who will now find first-team opportunities even more difficult to come by.
McAtee, who plays mostly as an attacking midfielder, has failed to break into Pep Guardiola’s team, appearing only 14 times in all competitions this season, with no Premier League starts.
It was reported at the end of last year that Forest, West Ham, Brentford, and Crystal Palace were ‘all known to be keeping a close eye’ on McAtee’s position. The 22-year-old has 18 months remaining on his deal.
As well as coming through the City youth set-up, McAtee has also had two spells on loan with Sheffield United but remained at City in the summer.
