Nottingham Forest have a £12 million-rated defender on their ‘shortlist’ as the transfer question is asked

Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds focus on summer transfer window business

Nottingham Forest appear to be competing for the signing of French defender Bradley Locko this summer.

Last month, the Reds were linked with Stade Brestois’ left-back. According to Get Football News France, he is still on their transfer “shortlist” as they seek to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s team in order to compete in the Premier League.

However, a number of clubs have expressed an interest in Locko. And it appears that Lille has gone one step further by inquiring about the player’s availability.

According to the source, Brest is unlikely to resist the 22-year-old’s exit, considering he was nominated to the Ligue 1 squad of the season for 2023/24. They signed him from Stade de Reims for 500,000 euros last summer, but he is now valued at 15 million euros (£12.7m).

West Ham United, Manchester United, and Fulham were previously linked with the France Under-21 international. According to reports, an undisclosed Serie A club is also interested in him.

Forest will have to make a judgment on their left-back alternatives this summer. It remains to be seen how Omar Richards fits into head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans after overcoming a two-year injury nightmare while on loan at Olympiacos. The former Bayern Munich player, who moved to the City Ground in 2022, is yet to make his debut at the Garibaldi.

Last season, Ola Aina was a regular starter at the position, and his contract has been extended for one year. The Nigeria international, like Welshman Neco Williams, can play on either the left or right side.

The Reds also have Harry Toffolo on their roster. However, they have not pursued the idea of signing Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares on a permanent basis.
