Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news: Reds defender Murillo continues to draw interest during the summer window.
At least one team is thought to have dropped their interest in Murillo as the Nottingham Forest star prepares to return to Trentside for pre-season training.
After a remarkable first season with the Reds, the centre-back has a devoted following. However, it appears that Juventus has ruled out any attempts to remove him from the City Ground.
According to Sport Italia (via Sport Witness), the Italian giants are unable to add another non-EU player to their roster. It appears that Murillo will not be moving.
According to a report by Alfredo Pedulla: “With the arrival of Douglas Luiz and Adzic, Juventus cannot take other non-EU players, so any talk of Murillo from Nottingham Forest or other candidates has no reason to exist, we are at the level of waste paper.”
Forest avoided a situation in which they would have had to consider selling Murillo for a low price by the end of last month in order to meet Profitability and Sustainability Rules. The club was under pressure to raise funds before the accounting deadline of June 30, but the probable sales of Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala to Lyon mean they anticipate to meet the standards.
It is unlikely that teams will stop tracking Murillo. However, it should imply that the Reds can assess any bids they receive on their own terms. They should be in a better position to judge any interest in the player, who is valued at more than £60 million.
Chelsea is thought to have already approached Forest about a potential deal. According to recent sources, the Blues were unwilling to match the Reds’ valuation of the 21-year-old but would accept a cash-plus-players offer, with Trevor Chalobah potentially included in any move.
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester United, PSG, Real Madrid, and Barcelona have all been connected to Murillo. Atletico Madrid has reportedly spoken with his reps.
The defender, who is under contract until 2028, has admitted to receiving some transfer interest. In a recent interview, he stated, “I have had a couple proposals. Some are official, while others are sounding out. I will bring it up with my manager. These were clubs from England, Italy, and Germany.
“If I stay in Nottingham, I will do my best. If I leave, I hope they would honor my decision. I’m calm and doing my best to analyse the situation.”
