Nottingham Forest follows Evangelos Marinakis’ transfer plan as a new target emerges

Nottingham Forest are thought to be keeping an eye on young midfielder Jordan James as their summer recruitment campaign continues.

Since the start of the transfer season earlier this month, the Reds have already added midfielder Marko Stamenic and versatile teenager Eric da Silva Moreira. However, Stamenic will spend the upcoming season on loan at Olympiacos, who is also controlled by Evangelos Marinakis.

Forest will prioritize outgoings before the August 30 deadline. They do want to bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s team, therefore more signings are on the way.

Earlier this year, owner Marinakis detailed the formula that the club is expected to stick to when it comes to new signings. In an interview, he stated that, with a few exceptions, the Reds have sought to sign young players with the potential to raise their value.

James, of Birmingham City, falls under such category. According to The Telegraph, the 19-year-old is on Forest’s “radar” as they look for new potential.

The Wales international rose through the ranks at the Blues. He got into the first team in 2021 and has made over 100 appearances since then.

Moreira, who signed a four-year contract earlier this week, is likewise seen as a promising prospect. The 18-year-old joined the City Ground from St Pauli in a deal valued approximately £1.25 million.

The teenager may play as a right back, wing back, or winger. Chief football officer Ross Wilson said of the new signing: “We already have a number of exciting young players in our squad, and we are pleased that Eric is another with high potential who we are excited to add to our ranks.”
