Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as the Reds have been penalized by the Premier League for breaching its profit and sustainability standards.
Nottingham Forest will be given a hearing date this week after being charged by the Premier League for violating profit and sustainability guidelines, according to reports.
“The i” understands that the Reds will face an independent panel within the first two weeks of March. The Premier League charged Forest back in January.
The club issued a statement following the charge, which read: “Nottingham Forest acknowledges the Premier League’s statement stating that the club has today been charged with a breach of the league’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules. The club expects to continue to fully collaborate with the Premier League on this matter and is optimistic of a prompt and equitable resolution.”
According to the guidelines, once charges have been filed, an independent commission hearing must be completed by April 8.
The Premier League rules indicate that clubs can only make a maximum loss of £105 million over a three-year period, or £35 million per season. For promoted teams, this is decreased, therefore Forest has been limited to losses of £61 million over the last three seasons – £13 million for the two seasons in the Championship before promotion, plus £35 million last season.
